The University of Agricultural Sciences came into existence in the year 1963 and it was established by the then Government of Mysore. Even though, the university is known to began its functions from the year 1964, the history of the university clearly shows that the university came into existence in the year 1899 in the form of an experimental farm land, which was later developed as an agricultural school in the year 1913.
The University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore is offering education through its four colleges of agriculture located at Hassan, Mandya, Shimoga and Bangalore respectively, a college of forestry located at Ponnampet and a college of Sericulture located at Chintamani. The University of Agricultural Sciences located at Bangalore also offers several short-term courses for their staff members engaged in research activities. In addition, the constituent colleges of the university conduct refresher courses and summer coaching for the benefit of the staff members of the other agricultural universities functioning in the state of Karnataka. Thus, University of Agricultural Sciences is making every effort to develop the agricultural productivity of the state of Karnataka.
