The Nalanda Open University was established in the year 1987, in the capital city of Patna, Bihar. In the year 1985, a Nalanda Open University Act was passed, and since then, the University has become a part of that jurisdiction. The University has a total of twenty-eight centers across the state of Bihar.

B.A in Geography is meant for the students of the Arts stream and who love Geography. During the entire course the students are taught various things related to Geography like Physical characteristics of different regions of the world, Economic conditions of different parts of the world, which geographical feature has led to the development of some of the famous regions of the world etc.

Division or Section in the paper:

The paper observes a maximum of two sections, Section A and Section B, each carrying a different number of main questions.

Pattern of the paper:

The pattern of the paper is very basic in approach. There are two sections, and a total of ten questions, six from the first section and four from the second section. Candidates are strictly advised to undertake any five main questions, but have to attempt any three from the first section and any two from the second section. All of these offered questions are long answer based, and do not contain any types of sub-question.

Markings evaluated by the University:

The total mark associated with the paper is seventy-five. Each of these ten main questions carries a total of fifteen marks.

Time allotted for the examination:

The total time duration offered to complete the Theory paper by the University is three hours.
