S.V.M. in the name of the college stands for Shri Vijay Mahantesh and this college came into existence in the year 1964. The college is offering arts, science and commerce courses with affiliation form the Karnatak University located in Dharwad. It is an aided institution awarded with B+ status by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.

Eligibility for admission:

For seeking admission to the arts, science and commerce courses offered by the college, candidates must have completed their two-year pre-university examination conducted by the Board of Pre-University of Karnataka or any other equivalent university or board. Admission of students to any course is made only for one academic year only and students will be admitted to the higher classes only on the basis of fresh application and admission to the second and third year of the degree course will be done based on the performance of the students in the previous year.
