B.J. Patel College of Education came into existence in the year 2002 on the 5th of December and this institution was established by the Bharat Education Trust. The college was established with the objective of preparing secondary level teachers and it is affiliated to the Veer Narmad South Gujarat University located in Surat. The college is equipped with all the educational facilities needed.

Course Details:

B.J. Patel College of Education as the name implies offer Bachelor of Education course and the duration of this course is one year. Candidates taking up B. Ed course with this college will have to study 7 subjects and those subjects are:

• Development of Education System in India

• Teacher in Emerging Indian Society

• Essentials of Education Technology and Elements of School Management

• Development of Learner and Teaching Learning Process

• Content and Teaching of Method (Science & Technology, Economics, English, Gujarati)

• Content and Teaching of Method (Mathematics, Social Science, Sanskrit, Hindi)

As mentioned earlier, candidates will have to study seven papers and apart from the above-mentioned six papers, another paper is optional paper in which candidates can select any one out of the following options:

• Alternative Education

• Physical Education

• Teaching of values

• Carrier Information in Career Guidance

• Educational &mental Measurement

• Educational Administration & Management

• Environment Educationa

• Population Education

• Elementary Education

Internship:

The students of B.J. Patel College of Education will have to take up compulsory internship programme for a period of one week. For the internship program, schools near the residence of the students are selected in such a way that they can conveniently complete the internship programme. A group of five or six students are allotted to each school where they will have to teach the students. The lecturers of the B.J. Patel College of Education will visit the schools where in students take up internship alternative days to evaluate their performance.

Admission Procedure and fee structure:

Out of the total seats, 95% of seats are filled on merit basis by the centralized B. Ed admission committee of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, while 5% of seats are management quota seats. The college collects a fee of Rs.15000 for each semester, thereby a total fee of Rs.30000 is collected for the whole course and this fee structure, which is changeable is applicable both for merit and management quota seats.
