Government College of Education, Banipur came into existence in the year 1947 as a training school and it became a Post Graduate Basic Training college in the year 1984. Later in the academic year 1991-92, the college was converted as a B. Ed College. After getting the status of B. Ed College, it was offering the course with affiliation from the Calcutta University. However, the college is presently offering Bachelor of Education course with affiliation from the West Bengal State University located in Barasat.

Course Details:

As mentioned earlier, Government College of Education is a Bachelor of Education college and the duration of this course is one year. This course includes the following general subjects:

• Management of education

• Psychological learning and instruction

• Development and foundation of education in independent India

In addition to the above-mentioned general subjects, the following special subjects are also offered in this course:

• Education in British, Medieval and Ancient India

• Evaluation and measurement in Education

• Counseling & guidance

Eligibility requirement:

The minimum qualification required for joining the Bachelor of Education course in Government College of Education, Banipur is that candidates must have completed their graduation in any discipline.
