Directorate of Medical Education and Research was established under the Government of India. The directorate actually controls and regulates the administration or various Government Medical College and Hospitals. The directorate mainly aims to promote research activities in the institutes. The directorate supervise the medical education which enables the Government of India to improve health status of the people in the society. The Directr is the head of the department. The directorate also acts as a competent authority for CET for admission to MHCET.
