Maharani’s Arts and Commerce College for Women is one of the renowned and oldest institutions in the country and the college is in the forefront of offering higher education exclusively for women students. The college had its humble beginning in the last quarter of the 19th Century with the establishment of Maharani’s Girls’ School with middle and primary sections in the year 1881.

Initially, the institution was under private management and it was taken over by the government in the year 1891 and then it was upgraded from primary and middle school to high school. Later in the year 1902, it was converted as second grade college with its name as Maharani’s College and it was affiliated to the University of Madras. With the establishment of Mysore University or University of Mysore in the year 1916, the college was brought under the control of the Mysore University.

Admission Procedure:

Admission of students to the UG courses offered by the Maharani’s Arts and Commerce College is done as per roster system complying with the university rules and regulations and seat matrix.

Admission of Students to the PG Courses will be done based on their performance in counseling session. Admission of students to the MBA course offered by the college will be through PGCET conducted by VTU followed by counseling.

Placement Cell:

Maahrani’s Arts and Commerce College for Women aspires to offer appropriate information about educational opportunities and career avenues to the students by conducting capacity building programmes. The institute plays the role of a facilitator for opening up employment opportunities to the students. As a part of an initiative to the build the capabilities of the students, spoken English classes and capacity building programmes are conducted.
