The Examination for Insurance Surveyors-Motor Insurance Papers mainly stress on the ability of the candidate to distinguish between the various modes of transportation. The examination is held to choose candidates for the post of the insurance surveyors. The insurance surveyors verify the credibility of the claims of insurance money made by the insurance holders. Thus it is a very key position. The entire liability of the money transaction rests on the shoulders of the surveyors.
Importance of the paper
The insurance of the motor vehicles means that in case of any damage the insurance company will bear all the expenses of the repair of the vehicles. Thus to prevent any fraudulent claims it is very important that the surveyor has a very good knowledge about the vehicles. Thus the paper has a lot of questions related with knowledge of the motor vehicles, their functioning and the machinery. Before the money is handed out, it is the surveyor who checks the vehicle. He makes a report of the extent of damage and then sends it to the insurance company.
Format
The whole paper is of 100 marks and each question carries 12 marks. However the first questionis of 16 marks though it is not compulsory to answer it.
Paper pattern
The paper consists of 16 questions and the candidates taking the exam are expected tochoose any of the eight questions and answer them correctly..
Marking
The first main question carries a total of 16marks. However it is not compulsory to answer it. The candidate is free to pick any of the eight questions and they will award marks accordingly. Although the answers must be exhaustive covering all aspects, it is expected of the candidates to write them precisely and to the point in a simple manner to understand.

The questions that most frequently feature in the question paper are
What are conditions of policy Private car related to a loss, to be followed by insureds?
Distinguish between:
- Stage carriage and contract carriage
- Maxi cab and motor cab
- No fault liability and fault liability
- Motor trade – internal risk and road risk
Time allotted
A total of three hours is allotted to complete the paper and the candidates taking the examination should make the most use of it.
