Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture Technology and Sciences conducts entrance exam yearly for the selection of eligible ones to its various courses in different levels. The exam is a national level competitive one and those clearing this will be admitted to desired course.

Structure of Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture Technology and Sciences B.Sc Entrance Exam

For the entrance exam, there will be a total of 160 questions which will be of objective type pattern. The candidates need to find out the correct response from the given choices. Maximum questions have to be answered within duration of 175 minutes.

Compulsory Section

• General Aptitude - 40 questions (30 minutes)

Optional Section

• Biology - 40 questions (30 minutes)
• Chemistry - 40 questions (30 minutes)
• Home Science - 40 questions (25 minutes)
• Mathematics - 40 questions (30 minutes)
• Physics - 40 questions (30 minutes)

All the candidates need to attend the compulsory section part. From the optional section, one needs to attend only three subjects as per their qualifying examination and subject group code filled in the application form.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates those who have passed their 10+2 standard with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/Physically handicapped candidates) are eligible for admission to the B.Sc programme in Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture Technology and Sciences. The candidates in the 12th standard are also eligible to apply for the entrance exam.

How to Apply?

The prospectus along with the application form of the entrance exam can be obtained from the Registrar’s office by fee payment of Rs. 400/-. It can also be made available via post by sending a crossed bank draft of Rs. 450/- drawn in favor of the Registrar, Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences, Allahabad payable at State Bank of India, Allahabad. The completed application forms along with a Bank Draft of Rs. 1000/- has to be sent to the Registrar, Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences, Post Agricultural Institute, Allahabad on or before the last date. The candidates can also apply for the exam online from the official website of the institute. After applying online, the aspirants have to send a Bank Draft of Rs. 1200/- along with a photograph to the Registrar office.

How to fill the Form?

The candidates have to fill the application form very carefully without making any kind of errors. All the columns have to be filled up providing the accurate details. The personal details furnished in the application form should be the same as that in the higher secondary certificates. The subject which one desires to choose in the undergraduate programme has to be mentioned clearly. Also make sure that the completed application form along with Bank Draft or University Cash Receipt and other required documents reaches the destination before the deadline.

The aspirants have to work hard for clearing this highly competitive exam. Before starting the preparations, one should go through the syllabus of the exam. Accordingly set up a timetable allotting time for each and every topic. The time should be allotted in such a manner keeping difficult and important topics in mind. More time has to be utilized for those topics. Another important thing the candidates have to put into practice is to manage time properly for the exam. For this purpose one needs to refer the sample question papers and work out on that. Refer as many books as possible while preparing. Having a note of important points and formulas, help the candidates for easy future reference. Hence while studying itself, note all the important ones in a separate paper. Also give emphasis to revision. Revise the topics once studied at least 2 – 3 times before the exam.

The validity of Entrance Exam score will be only for 1 year.
