Formerly known to the student community as National Open School, National Institute of Open Schooling conducts examination for certification to senior secondary level, which is an equivalent to 10+2 standard. Senior secondary level of NIOS is divided into two groups; Group A or Language group and Group B or specialist subject group and the Computer science paper fall in the latter category.

Eligibility and topics covered in this paper

Any candidate who has successfully completed class 10th or any equivalent examination of that sort from a standard and recognized university is eligible for senior secondary programme of NIOS.

This paper covers all standard computer science topics like Digital Computer Anatomy, concept of data processing, operating system, computer software, networking and data communication, fundamentals of internet, Java programming, C++ and OOP Concepts, functions, control statements, arrays, pointer, structure, classes and objects, file handling etc.

Computer science paper pattern

Number of questions required to answer in this paper is not always the same, however recent trend shows a constant figure of 10. However, in terms of programming language, you may consider it as a variable. Moreover, you do not have an option to skip any question.

Theoretical questions, questions on determining the output of a particular program, writing a complete program, writing small codes, determining errors in a programs etc have easy access to the question paper.

Other Information on the paper

Computer science paper of NIOS secondary level exam holds a maximum of 60 marks and time frame to write all the questions would be 3 hours. Also make sure that you don’t make any kind of identification or write your roll number in the answer sheet other than where you are supposed to as it might lead to an unnecessary disqualification.
