Details on Revised Structure of Combined Graduate Level Exam

Staff Selection Commission has changed the exam pattern of Combined Graduate Level exam for the recruitment Multi-Tasking Staff in various departments. There will be objective as well as subjective type questions in this examination. The exam pattern is designed to evaluate the intelligence of candidates than mere reproduction of memory.

Scheme of Examination

The examination will be conducted in three tiers. Tier I exam will contain multiple choice objective type questions. There will be a maximum of two hundred questions. Each question carries one mark. Of these, 50 questions will be asked from general intelligence and logical reasoning, 50 questions from general awareness, 50 marks questions from numerical ability and 50 questions from General English. Maximum marks allotted for this exam is two hundred. Candidates will be given a maximum of 2 hours to answer all questions. Those who are physically challenged will be given time duration for a maximum of 2 hours and 40 minutes. There will be negative marking for wrong answer. 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.

Those who have secured the sectional cut off in Tier I exam will be short listed for the next level; Tier II exam. This section will contain objective type questions as well as descriptive type questions. There will be a maximum of 100 questions from Quantitative Ability. Each question carries 2 marks. 0.50 marks will be deducted for each every wrong answer in this section.  Maximum marks allotted for this section is 200.  Candidates will be given a maximum of 2 hours to answer all questions. Physically challenged candidates will be given time duration for a maximum of 2 hours and 40 minutes. In addition to this, there will be questions from English language and comprehension for a maximum of 200 marks. Time duration allotted for answering all these questions is 2 hours and that for physically challenged candidates is 2 hours and 40 minutes. Maximum marks allotted for Tier II exam is 400. In addition to this, those who are applying for the post of Statistical Investigator will have to answer question from Paper III Statistics. Questions for a maximum of two hundred marks can be expected.

Tier III exam will be different for each section. Candidates who are applying for the post of Assistant and Tax Assistant in CBEC and Central Bureau of Direct Taxes will have to undergo personal interview too. Maximum marks allotted for personal interview is 100. Those who are applying for other post are required to Computer Proficiency Test and data entry skill test.
