The Indian Institute of Technology located in Delhi was established in the year 1961. The Institute is an autonomous body and is connected to different IIT’s with a common IIT council. The institute was established with the common goal of under taking the nation with some of the most recognized as well as established engineers both at the post graduate as well as graduate level.

Campus:

The area of the campus of the IIT, Delhi is spread over 1.3 square kilometers or 320 acres. The college has 11 hostels located in the campus. The Institute’s campus has different buildings that house different engineering streams and each HOD is located in a specific building.

Seats availability:

15% of the over all seats are reserved for scheduled castes and 7.5% for scheduled tribes. 27% of the seats are reserved for Other Backward Castes. The rest are reserved for the general castes. There are also some seats reserved for defense and other fields.

Departments:

The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi has 26 departments. The Institute offer different engineering streams such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Tele-Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering (Power), Chemical Engineering, Textile Technology, Engineering Physics, Production and Industrial Engineering and many other related streams. The Institute also offers M.Sc courses in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

Apart offering different engineering courses, the Institute also offers master degree in the Business Administration, Design and City Planning.
