Andhra Medical College was formed in the year 1923 on the 19th of July and it is one of the oldest colleges for medicine in India. Initially, it was formed as medical school and was affiliated to Madras University and it was started with just 32 students. But now the college is admitting 150 students for UG courses, 164 students for PG courses and eight super-specialty trainees every year and it is currently under the jurisdiction of NTR University of Health Sciences.

Courses Offered:

The college is offering Under graduation in MBBS and post graduation courses in medicine, obstetrics and gynecology and it is also offering different paramedical and health related courses under the able guidance of NTR University of health sciences.

Admission procedure:

For admitting students to Postgraduate degree/diploma courses, candidates must get through the entrance examination conducted by NTR University of health sciences.

Eligibility for admission:

As far as post-graduation courses in medicine are concerned, candidate must possess MBBS degree issued by an institution approved by Medical Council of India and also internship before the specified date. If a candidate is already doing post graduation degree/diploma, he/she will not be allowed to attend the entrance examination, unless they terminate the course by remitting the stipend drawn and bond amount till the date of submission of application.

Student Activities:

In addition to education, the students of the Andhra Medical College are encouraged to take part in extracurricular and activities with respect to social service as well. The student association of the college conducts blood donation camp every year and the association is also conducting public awareness programmes, quizzes and medical seminars for providing an in-depth knowledge to the students on their field of study. The NSS unit working under the college is acting as volunteers for pulse polio.
