Delhi Police was formed in the year 1861 as the main law and order agency for the National Capital Territory of Delhi. The department was established after the adoption of the Indian Police Act. Delhi Police was a part of the Punjab Police until India gained independence in 1947. Four Delhi Police divisions were created in the year 1966. The department is headed by the Police Commissioner of Delhi. The department has total strength of more than 57500 persons working in it.
Job Profile:
Candidates are invited to take part in the recruitment of Assistant Sub-Inspector (Stenographer), Head Constable and Constable (Driver) in Delhi Police.
Eligibility:
Candidates should be between 18 to 25 years of age as on 1 January 2010 for the posts of Assistant Sub Inspector as well as for the posts of Head Constable.
Educational Qualification:
Graduation from a recognized institute or university is required for the posts of Assistant Sub Inspector while 12th pass or equivalent is required for the posts of Head Constable.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (Stenographer): 20 posts (Gen-5, SC-4, ST-3, OBC-6)
Head Constable: 499 posts (Gen-265, SC-66, ST-36, OBC-142)
Pay Scale:
Assistant Sub-Inspector (Stenographer): Rs. 9300-34800 + Grade Pay of Rs. 4200
Head Constable: Rs. 5200-20200 + Grade Pay of Rs. 2400
