In India, after completion of class X, a student can opt for any of the basic streams like science, commerce or humanities/arts. Admission of students to the B. Sc colleges in the state of Gujarat is done on the basis of the merit secured by candidates in the higher secondary examination. However, in the process of admission, preference will be given only to candidates with science background at the higher secondary level as compared to candidates with arts and commerce background.
