The Devi Ahilya University or also known to be the Devi Ahilya Vishwavidalaya is a university into operations from a ver long period of time. This university was established in the year of 1964 by the government legislative act by the Madhya Pradesh government. The university was initially in the early days known to be the University of Indore and its affiliating jurisdiction was restricted to the city of Indore only but it was in the year of 1988 when the university was renamed after the Malwa ruler then the university jurisdiction was refurbished to move beyond the city of Indore and combine 6 other districts.

The university is quite huge enough and successfully stands a pool of 153 affiliated colleges and a fleet of 6000 students at the campus of the university and a total over around 1.2 lakh students associated to the university by means of affiliated colleges. This university by the developed 16 faculties has been administering to its courses and imparts quality education all around.

The courses run by the university fall under the categories of the following schools and institutes that the university so willingly maintains, these are: biochemistry, biotechnology, language, law, chemical sciences, commerce, computer science and information technology, economics, education, electronics, energy & environmental studies, future studies & planning, instrumentation, journalism & mass communication, life sciences, mathematics and few more.

These departments work co- operatively and in sync with each other to cater to the need of the course.

The admission to the university takes place through the CET or common entrance exam conducted by the university and the students thus applied for and in the merit list are cordially invited by the university to be its part and take up the course they applied. The application form is duly available over the website of the university and can be filled once downloaded and so submitted at the campus for the CET application.
