Sir, as I know that Diploma course is equivalent to Higher Secondary. But in some cases, the eligibility criteria for admission in Diploma course is 12th with PCM. I don't understand, if this is equivalent to HS then why such eligibility required?

Actually in diploma we have to deal with many mathematical calculations whether it is civil branch, Computer branch, ECE, Automobile etc.
So,if you are interested in diploma in engineering after 12th then you have to clear leteral entrance examination exam.
And only students with PCM are allowed to apply.

Not every diploma courses need class 12th with PCM stream. Most of the diploma in engineering courses have minimum requirement of class 10th qualification. In fact, 12th PCM is only required for lateral entry admission in diploma.

There are some diploma courses like D.Pharma, which requires class 12th with PCM or PCB stream. This diploma is of 2 years duration. Hence, it depends on the kind of diploma you want to pursue.

It depends upon what type of course you are joining. Most of the diploma courses didn't require PCM. You can join diploma courses if you are having commerce, arts as well. There are rare courses which require PCM for diploma courses. However some percentage of marks is required for some courses depending upon the type of course. However this percentage vary for different courses. We at IIFD also offers diploma courses in fashion designing, textile designing and interior designing and our requirement is to have at-least 60% marks in 12th in any stream to get admission for diploma or degree courses.
