You can appear as many time as you want. But writing it twice would be a nightmare and no saying if you will qualify the next time. Take it if you get it first time.

* You can attend the exam as many you can. There is no limit for that.
* There is no age limit for exam. So you can attend as you can.
* Candidates should be graduate from a recognized university.
* Final year candidates can also appear for the exam

you can't take admission in IIM in 2012 wheather you will be appear in 2011, because the validity of CAT score care is only 1 yr, & within 1 yr you can take admission in any college as per your percentile.

So, for taking admission in 2012 in IIM you will have to appear in CAT 2012 again.

After CAT examination you will be selected for any of the MBA colleges, CAT is for business management.
