CAT English papers
CAT is considered to be the most prestigious and the most challenging management entrance tests of the country. The question paper has four sections, viz. Reading Comprehension, Verbal ability, Data Interpretation and problem Solving.
The questions are all multiple choice types. There is also a provision for negative answer for each incorrect answer. The pattern of the test is not fixed. This is done on purpose by the IIMs to avoid predictability. So to succeed in the exam you should have a deeper knowledge of the concepts.
From the year 2009 the exam has been a computer based one. The duration of the test is two and a half hours. No breaks are given during the test.
Nowadays much importance is given to the English section of the exam. To prepare for the English section you should have two things very strong. They are communication skills and English skills. For the first one start the preparation at your home only. Start conversing with your friends in English.
For the exam purpose you should focus on your vocabulary. RC is considered to be very important to help you clear the cut off. It requires excellent reading speed. Your speed helps you to retain the things you read. Portions like antonyms-synonyms etc should also be taken care of.
