both IES ans IAS are prestigious job. as you are civil engineer it is better if you go for IES.

If you are a civil eng. You must prepare for the ies exam.

This will give you a beter future in your field.

Both stands same for you... Both are equally tough. Go with what you like.

Well there is no comparing IAS and IES.
Both are top examinations conducted to select Top notch brains to serve respective departments in top positions.
Which one you choose depends on your choice, i.e. in which field you want to work.
Further the thing in that none is too easy.. both the exams have number if IITians lining up for them,DU toppers, NITians ..etc.
In IAS you would get to work in administrative positions , you will be posted as
DC in just 3-4 years and will progress further and may get to work as secretary chief secretary,cabinet secretary Home secretary RBI governor, advisor etc.
While in IES you will get to shape a company's future in higher positions
GM/director/ cmd etc.
so none is inferior... people choose IAS for its powers

both are equivalently good at their positions ....
both are very good career options for the engineering students ....
you can choose any one of them it depends on you whether you want to go for the administration or the engineering department ...
you are absolutely eligible for both of them .....

Dear friend,

The pattern for IAS examination has been changed from this
year onwards. Now the IAS preliminary examination has been
converted into aptitude test and is named as Civil Services
Aptitude Test(CSAT).
The CSAT will be conducted in two parts of 200 marks each.

Part-I will have questions from General Studies.

Part-II will have questions from the following topics:
Comprehension,English Language Comprehension skills,
Interpersonal skills including communication skills,
Logical reasoning and analytical ability,Data interpretation,
Decision making and problem solving,General mental ability and
Basic numerical or Quantitative Aptitude.

As the pattern has been changed it will be the lucky chance
for many who have a good logical and reasoning abilities. So,
I would suggest you not to miss the chance.

both the services are good. by doing IES, you serve for an industrial organisation.by doing IAS exam you serve for nation and you directly interact with people of different kinds.my advice is to go for ias examination.

I am a final year student of b.tech(electronics)....I am not so good in engineering line ........i want to be an IAS officer ......
but there are two ways for preparing it-----
1.) go for IES coaching and strong my GS apptitude( common to both ies and ias). technical part of electronics and get selection in PSU's or IES do job for 1 or 2 years and then prepare for IAS
becoz in case i will not get selection in ...IAS my future will be secure becoz i will have experience of job.
2.) go for IAS coaching and prepare for it.......
but in case i will not select in IAS in 4 or 5 years then what is the other opportunities ahead of me ...for good future...
WHICH WAY SHOULD I SELECT FOR IAS prepration? please tell me.......

In my opinion you should go with IES because you have spent your precious time for achieving the degree of B.tech

so you have to make full use of it ..

if you do IES than you can serve your nation as well as you can utilize your engineering skills

too

but it is not the case with IAS it is completely different from your stream

IF you have very much interest in doing civil service then only choose this option

IAS is an central service and also deeply regarded as d most prestigious job..

Like this service there are other 24 services for which a common entrance test is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission)

The main basic eligibility criteria for Civils Service Examination

->Candidate must have 21 years of age

->Candidate must complete at least degree from a recognized Indian University

this is all about the basic eligibility criteria of CSE

As per your qualification if you have completed Degree then definitely you are eligible for the exam..

ias is an administrator and ies is an engineering administrator

whether IES will count for IAS exams

As you have completed Engineering course in Civil stream,so you can easily crack the Indian Engineering Service exam.And not only that you can work in core side in government post with good position.If you take India Engineering Service exam.

First of all be clear that IES and IAS both are entirely different Jobs.

IES is for Engineering Services in Goverment sectors- Indian Railway Engineering service, Millitary Engineering Service, Central Engineering Service etc.

IAS is for Bureaucracy of Indian Govertment. It includes Administrative jobs- Directors, Secretory to PM, CM, Aviation, Revenew etc.

civil is one of your subjects for ias then surely you can prepare for both the exams,in fact if you prepare for ias thoroughly that means you are already ready for ies exam,because even ies exam has one general studies paper,

i cannot understand my interest on what field is better for me ias or ies???????????

Both will suit you..you can appear for both...both IAS and IES is good..
Most probably you will find IES to be easier than IAS ..since,your subject is ECE
you need to have conceptual study especially more numerical study for both objective and conventional papers
