i had passed 10th class by Punjab board and also pursuing my diploma in 6th sem up to 70% in mechanical engineering in lovely professional university but i do not done 12th class. i get admission in diploma after 10th directly. can i admission in iit be-tech in 2nd year

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

• The candidate must have passed their 10+2 examinations from a recognized board.

• The candidate can appear in the Joint Entrance Exam two times only, that also should be in consecutive years.

• The candidate must be physically fit for the course for which they have applied.

• The candidates who will be giving their final examinations of 10+2 in 2011 are also eligible to apply.

in IIT there is no lateral entry scheme to take admission directly into second year. generally final year student of diploma take admission in B.Tech directly in second year through lateral entry examination. but in IIT there is no such way to take admission in second year.


if you really want to study your B.tech from IIT then you have to appear in IIT JEE entrance examination. after cracking this examination you will be able to take admission in first year of B.Tech in IIT.


in other way you may go for institution other than IIT. there you will be able to take admission directly in second year. for this you have to appear in lateral entry examination which is a state level examination.

There is no provision for direct admission in IITs, you have to clear IITJEE to inter IITs for admission in 1st yr.

1. Firstly, you can go directly to that college which you choose but you should 1year 6month experience in technical field related to your branch after that you have to conduct an entrance test for that.

2.Otherwise, you have to go for the IIT exam after diploma.

i have passed my 10th exam with 80% marks from gujarat board and i will also completed diploma engineering in INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY from gujarat technological univercity with 6.00 SPI so if there any possibility that i can get admission in 2nd year in good college of mumbai,pune, banglor or delhi?

No, you can not get admission in IIT after completion of diploma engineering.

IIT organise and conducted JEE entrance exam in march-april.

Eligibility for JEE exam:
● Candidate must passed the 12+2 exam.

●Candidate must have passed with PCM.

●Candidate must be born after 1990

● The number of attempts a candidate can
appear for JEE (Main) shall be limited to 03.

●Candidate should have minimum 50% in each subject.

Since the diploma is not equivalent to 12+2. You will not eligible for JEE, so you can not get admission in IIT.
