What you are taught in this subject?

This subject mainly focuses on two broad categories - Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics.

Thermodynamics includes the basic laws like the first and second law of thermodynamic, Carnot cycle, Clausius Inequality and their application.

Fluid Mechanics emphasizes on the properties and classification of fluids and fluid statics and kinematics mainly.

Paper Pattern and Time Allotted:

The paper is of 70 marks and the total time allotted for it is 3 hours. The paper is divided into 3 subsections. The first section contains 10 multiple choice questions of 1 mark each. The second section has 4-6 questions of 5 marks each out of which 3 have to be answered. The number of questions in the 3rd section also varies from 4-6 and are of 15 marks each and 3 of them have to be answered.
