Minimum educational qualification required to become an Officer in Indian Police Services is "Bachelor Degree" or Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. Yes, there is a certain eligibility criteria that is required to be eligible for this recruitment.

>> In order to join as Officer in Indian Police Services, you are required to appear in Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) that is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

>> NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) is a recognized board and candidates who complete their courses from NIOS board are eligible.

>> So make sure you pursue Graduation after completion of 12th from NIOS in order to be eligible.

IPS refers to Indian Police Service and to be an IPS officer you need to qualify Civil Services examination which is held by UPSC once every year for recruitment of administrative officers like IPS, IAS, IFS, etc. .

--> The minimum eligibility criteria required for appearing in Civil Services examination are as here under :-

* You must have the nationality of India.

* Your age must lie within 21 years to 32 years if you belong to general category. Further age relaxation is applicable for reserved category candidates.

* You must have completed your bachelor degree course in any discipline from a recognized university.

Now as you are concerned about the validation of your higher secondary school degree with NIOS ( National Institute of Open Schooling ) board then I would like to let you know that NIOS is one of the three Central board of education of India and hence certificates provided by same are acceptable everywhere and for Civil Services examination too.

For more detailed information regarding same examination you can refer to the link www.upsc.gov.in.
