KAS is Karnataka Administrative Service exam conducted by the KPSC for the various posts in the Group A and Group B of various state government depatments. KAS is almost similar to the IAS exam which is conducted by the UPSC.
Karnataka Administrative Service exam include two written exam. The preliminary exam takes place in February and the main exam takes place in June of the same year. Candidates to appear in main exam are first required to pass the preliminary exam of the Karnataka Administrative Service exam. ELIGIBILITY Nationality: Only Indian Citizens are eligible to appear in Karnataka Administrative Service exam. Education: You must have graduation degree in any stream from a recognised college in India. Candidates who are in final year of graduation course may also apply for the KAS exam. Age Limit: For the general category candidates the age limit is between 21 to 30 years. Other Backward Class candidates have 33 years as upper age limit. SC/ST candidates can appear in the KAS exam till 35 years. EXAM PROCEDURE Preliminary Exam Main exam Interview Preliminary Exam: There are two papers in the Preliminary exam. Paper 1 National/current affairs Humanities / Arts / History Paper – II General Knowledge / Karnataka State Current Affairs Science & Technology, Environment & Ecology / General Mental Ability Those who will pass the preliminary exam would be eligible to appear in the main exams that would take place in the month of June. Main Exam: The KAS Main exam consists 8 papers of total 2100 marks. Paper – I : Compulsory Kannada Paper – II : Compulsory English Paper – III : General Studies (Paper – I) Paper – IV : General Studies (Paper – II) For the next four papers, cadidate is required to pick two subjects per paper out of the 30 elective subjects. Each paper would be of 300 marks. List of Elective Papers: Agriculture, Sericulture, Agricultural Marketing And Co-Operation Mathematics Management Urdu Syllabus Rural Development & Co-operation Statistics Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Sciences And Fisheries Anthropology Law Civil Engineering Botany Zoology Chemistry English Commerce, Accounting:, Business Organization & Secretarial Practice Economics, Karnataka Economy Criminology Electrical Engineering Physics Mechanical Engineering Kannada Philosophy |

Dear Friend;
The minimum educational qualification requires for applying to the Civil service exams / Executive level exams is just passed Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university which comes under UGC. Other then educational qualification a candidate must be a citizen of India and his age does not exceeds to 38 years for General Category. KPSC is the competent authority which conducts KAS exam. Graduation is the essential qualification required to apply for KAS exam. 21 years is the minimum age necessary to apply for the same. Maximum age limit is 30 years. Selection process will include a preliminary and main exam. If you are able to clear this exam, you can attend personal interview.
