Those Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in 12th standard and scored a minimum of 50% marks can attend Karnataka Common Entrance Test. However, the eligibility requirements may change according the category of the candidates.

Eligibility criteria for KCET Medical Exam

Aspirants who have completed HSC course with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as subjects are eligible to appear for KCET medical entrance test. Apart from these common eligibility requirements, the eligibility may vary in certain cases.

Case 1: Candidates, who have studied at least 7 years in any of the government or government-aided educational institutions of Karnataka, are eligible to apply. In such case, they should have passed the entrance test carried out by Karnataka State either during matriculation or at 12th level.

Case 2: Those who have studied and passed two-year course of Pre University or intermediate from any institution run under Karnataka State government are also eligible to attend the test. In this case, either of the parents of the candidate should have studied in the state of Karnataka for a minimum period of seven years.

Case 3: Candidates who have completed qualifying examination outside Karnataka state are also eligible, provided they must pass the Kannada entrance test carried out by KEA. In such case, the mother tongue of the candidate and either of his or her parents must be Kannada, Kodava, or Tulu.

Case 4: Candidates having Kannada, Kodava, or Tulu as mother tongue and have studied at least 7 years in the disputed Kannada speaking areas of Maharashtra or Kerala are also eligible to attend the test. In this case also the candidate should pass the Kannada entrance test carried out by KEA.

Case 5: If the parent of the applicant is a defense personal, who have served at least one year continuously during the study time of the candidate in class 11th and 12th can apply for the exam. Here the candidate should have pursued the qualifying course from any government or government aided educational institutions in Karnataka.

Case 6: If the parent of the applicant is a defense personal, who had declared any place in Karnataka as home town at the time of joining the service, then such candidates can attend the entrance exam. In this case, the qualifying course can be passed from any institution located in India.

Case 7: If the parent of the applicant is a defense personal, who have served at least one year in Karnataka and the candidate has completed the qualifying course from any of the government of government aided educational institutions in Karnataka state, then they can attend the exam.

Case 8: If the applicant is the son or daughter of a Central Government employee or Karnataka state government employee, who had served at least one year during the period, the candidate had pursued intermediate class studies, then they are eligible to attend the exam. However, the candidate should have completed the qualifying course from any government or government aided educational institutions in Karnataka.

Case 9: If the applicant is the son or daughter of a Central Government employee or Karnataka state government employee, who had declared himself as the resident of Karnataka at the time of joining and had studied at least 7 years in any of government or government aided educational institutions in Karnataka, then they can attend the test.

Case 10: Candidates who have passed the qualifying exam from any of the educational institutions located in India can attend the exam, provided either of their parents is a Member of Parliament from the state of Karnataka.

Case 11: If the candidate is the son/daughter of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants, then they can attend the exam irrespective of the place in India where they have completed their qualifying course.

Case 12: Those who have spent 10-years of their academic studies in Kannada medium from any of the educational institutions outside the state are also eligible.

Apart from this, the age of the candidate must be between 17 and 25 years. Those with necessary qualifications as above can apply for the exam through the official portal of KCET.
