Eligibility for NDA

NDA is the entrance exam for the admission in the India's NATIONAL DEFENSE ACADEMY.
The NDA exan is conducted by the UPSC twice in a year. One you clear all the exams in the NDA then you get a job under the government of India. After a training of one year after selection you get the permanent job.

The eligibility for the NDA exam is that one should have passed the 10+2 board exam from a recognized board , it is for the Army wing only.
But for the Air Force and the Navy you have to pass the 10+2 board exam from the recognized board and should have maths and physics as the compulsory subjects in the 10+2 board exam.

The age criteria is from 16.5 years to 19 years for the general category students.
Also there is upper age relaxation for the OBC of 3 years and for the SC/St there is 5 years of age relaxation on the upper age limit.

As their are different departments post in NDA (Air Force,Navy,Army),they have different eligibility criteria of educational qualification.That are

Indian Air Force:Candidate should complete 12th class with PCM stream.
Indian Navy:Candidate should have complete 12th class with PCM stream
Indian Army:Candidate should have completed 12th class with any stream.

For Army wing:-

Sorry to say that, but if you are not eligible for the NAVAL & AIR FORCE WING OF INDIA NDA examination, conducted by UPSC every years for two times.
because, for appear in this exam you must possess 12th degree from a recognized board.
for admission in military branch you just need 12th degree, but for NAVAL & AIR WING you must 12th degree in PHYSIC & MATHS with at least 60%.

the age limit for this exam is 16.5-19.


So, you can appear for NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY examination under military branch.

NDA exam is conducted by UPSC twice a year,for Defence services which includes Indian Army,Indian Air Force and Indian Navy.
Its a very good career option for interested students .This exams gives you the job satisfaction and security which you will never
get in private sector .and after the sixth pay commision they have hiked the salary also ,so now if at the age of 19 or 20 you enter
defense service ,you will have great chances to touch the clouds.

You are eligible for NDA after completion of 12th with 58% marks because the minimum requirement for NDA of marks in 50% in any of the stream under some recognized university or board.

As there are four streams in 12th and you can do any one from those according to your interest and choice and after if according to your subjects you can apply for that type of civil service.Like for army then arts are also eligible.But for Indian Navy and Air Force,only the science students are eligible.

NDA stands for National Defense Academy. To pursue a career in defense you need to sit for this exam. By successfully cracking this exam you will get the chance to join any one of the following wings:-

i) Indian Army
ii) Air Force
iii) Naval

There are two courses you can apply for. One is NDA and the other one is Naval. This preference of yours needs to be stated in the application form itself. However eventually which academy will come your way depends on your overall performance. You need to stay in the academy for three years for training.

NDA and NA(I) exam notification is already out. The last date for applying for this exam was January. There are about 300 vacancies in NDA and 55 vacancies in NA. The exam is due in 14th April, 2013.

i) To join the army wing you need to pass higher secondary examination or its equivalent of a recognized board.

Application Fee:-

The NDA exam follows a two stage selection procedure where the candidates needs to sit for a written exam first. On getting selected you will be then asked to attend an interview session. Candidate must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in the higher secondary examination and atleast, have 40% in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English. During the time of admission, he should be 17 1/2 years and must not be over 23 years of age. After or during the +2 tenure, interested candidates need to write NDA Exam for the Army wing of National Defense Academy. Candidates willing to join Indian Army through NDA Exam do not need to have studied Mathematics in the higher secondary level.
