Be thorough with ur Academics Try to read the Text Books
and practise the objective questions from ACE study material
if not follow any other objective type questions and attempt many model papers

as far as my knowledge of book regarding the GATE book for ECE i feel that book by RK Kanoida seems to be better than others in the market.....

RK Kanodia is book is best. Without this book, your prep is not complete.
Even every book like GK are copy of kanodia book.

if you are ace student no need of any fee
if you are non-ace student for online test you have to pay 1000/- but it will be more helpful to you

yes you are eligible for the GATE exam if you are in final year can easily be eligible.
Pre-final year students are not eligible to write GATE 2012.
And There is no age relaxation for students.
