Which branch of veterinary science is good to do in MVSC?
Hi,
I had given AIEEA ICAR PG exam this year and got 86 rank. I have a ICAR PG counseling which will be held at Delhi on 2nd July 2010. I think I would get non-JRF seat comfortably with this rank. However, I'm quite confused about choosing the best branch of study in the Post Graduation. I have various options like Pathology, Surgery and Pharmacology. I'm looking for the branch which would give me good prospectus in terms of getting best job in the vet world. Please help me out which should opt among them. Besides, Let me know if you have any other suggestion/information related to this thread. Your response on this would be more appreciated. Thanks in advance, Sahira. |

Dear friend,
To be frank you are the best person to decide which branch suits you most and which stream will interest you more. But, in my opinion, Surgery is the best option. Pathology is the diagnosis of disease Pharmocology relates with study of drug action But if you specialize in surgery, then you can make large profit on it. Regards |

Let me congratulate you first. Now, regarding the choice of the course, the decision is going to be entirely yours. There are so many interesting options for you - right from Animal Genetics and Breeding to Animal Nutrition, Avian Diseases, Livestock Production & Management, Poultry Science, Veterinary Immunology, Veterinary Medicine, etc. Each field is promising enough. After finishing your MVSc, you can go for jobs with private and government veterinary hospitals and clinics or get attcahed to aviaries, wildlife sanctuaries and zoological parks, work with race clubs, poultry farms, dairy farms, teach at colleges or engage in private practice. Research work can also be an option for you. In short, you will have immense scope...so, choose a field, you have an aptitude for and there will be no stopping you.
