Btech after BSc?
My nephew is doing B.Sc.(Physics) Hons. with Maths and Stats. as subsidiary subjects fromSt.Xaviers collee, Mumbai.
He wants to pursue B.Tech.Course after finishing his B.Sc.(Physics-Hons).He is doing only his2nd sememster. But he would like to prepare for his B.Tech.course from 2nd year as he wants to do B.Tech-Mech.,electronic,civil,etc. Can he pursue B.Tech.-Aeronautics? What are the couses he can do other than B.Tech.Course? Is there any M.Sc.Aerospace course available? Do IIT have M.Sc. Physics course? Can he do M.Sc. by research in any instituiion. |

ans 1)he can get lateral entry to second year of b.tech (any stream). He have to appear for entrance for that, which is conducted by different universities and institutes itself every year.
ans 2)yes he can also do b.tech (aeronautical engineering). ans 3) no,m.sc.(aerospace) course is not available in India. However,he can do his m.sc. in aerodynamic, astro physics etc like branches. ans 4) yes, m.sc.(physics) course is available in all IIT's,of which IIT-K (kanpur) is considered best for its physics department. He have to appear for IIT-JAM for persuing m.sc. in physics after completing his b.sc. hope you have got answered to all your questions:) |

hi vimla i will suggest you to make your nephew go for mba rather than going for b.tech, because:
after doing b.sc (3 years) an then doing b.tech(4 years),which means a total of of 7 years and still he will be a graduate .and hence he may not be able to apply for a large section of jobs which require masters degree. so the better option will be doing b.sc and mba. |

hi,
please don't let him go for B.tech, because doing b.tech from any other colleges other than IIT's and NIT's after doing B.Sc is not worthy. and also there is no lateral entry into NIT's and IIT's directly into 2nd year. also after completing your B.Sc you will not be eligible to write IIT-JEE and AIEEE due to limited number of attempts system. so better you go for MBA from a good college like IIM,XLRI,FMS etc. good luck |

after bsc i would suggest you, do master degree courses like m.tech or mba, because b.tech and bsc are both graduation courses, only difference is one is professional course and other is degree course.

Yes ofcourse your nephew can pursue B-tech after his Bsc....There is an entrance exam for any university you are applying for the engineering degree.. Through the lateral entry he can join directly to the 2nd year in which stream he wants to...The entrance exam he has to appear for is AIEEE,IIT JEE etc..Yes he can pursue aeronautical engineering..After Bsc he can pursue Msc then he can do his Phd then he can join any organisation as a scientist or a researcher..If he is interested in civil services then he can also go for that...If he is interested in management field then he can go for MBA through the CAT,MAT,XAT...If he is interested in computer field then he can opt for MCA..No, there is no Msc aerospace course available in India..but there is astro physics course is available which you can also prefer..Yes IITs have the Msc physics course...There is an entrance exam for this also IIT JAM..Ofcourse there are so many institution which gives Msc by research.. Be prepared for the entrance exams because which field you want to go you have to face the entrance test.. GOOD LUCK... |

Deepak, as I think that you are about to complete your graduation and after that again going for graduation in B.Tech is not a good idea and your ultimate is only to do MBA so I think its better you prepare yourself for CAT exams and not for B.Tech. It will be very time consuming. You can have your good career after your graduation + MBA. So take judicious decision.
Best of Luck! |

If your nephew is so keen for B.Tech he can get admission in it through lateral entry. There are many universities and colleges which provide lateral admission through entrance exams conducted each year. So in this way he can save his time and can do B.Tech also
Best wishes!!!!!!!!!1 |
