The recruiting branches in this exam are as follows. ->ECE ->EEE ->ETC ->MECH ->CIVIL This doesn't mean that you have to be anyone of the above streams actually but if you have a engineering degree it is enough but you don't have your required stream which means that you will have a very less chances after selecting the exam in any other stream in engineering streams. and few of M.Sc streams too. Sorry to say your sister that she is not eligible to writer IES entrance in her own stream she had to take exam in the anyone of the above steams after completing her B.tech in IT Branch. She can try other govt jobs like JTO or etc., if she is interested in doing in Govt job. If not there is a lot scope in Software field only. Think upon Regards ~AdityA~ |

Re: Can IT completed candidates apply for IES Exam?
dear friend,
The eligibility criteria for IES exam- 1.You have to complete your graduation in engineering in any of the following streams- Electronics and communication Electronics and Electrical Electrical Mechanical Civil 2.Age criteria- For general 21-30years... For SC/ST there is a age relaxation of 5years.. For OBC the age relaxation is 3years.. These are the criteria to appearing in IES exam.. As you have done your graduation in engineering from IT stream then you are eligible to write IES exam.. But you have to give the exam on the syllabus of any of the stream mentioned above not on your own stream.. so, if you still want to go for IES , then prepare yourself on any of the above stream.. All the best.. |

it engineers are not eligible for the ies exam but they can give the exam as electronics and telecommunication engineer. for giving ies exam, the student must have done b.tech in mechanical, electrical, civil or electronics and telecommunication. The age limit for the exam is 21 to 30 years which can increase to 35 years for sc/st students. If you are having these qualifications, then only you can give the exam. there will be three rounds in the exam. Firstly, you will have to give the preliminary exam. this exam will be of objective questions. After qualifying in that exam, you will have to give the main exam, which will be in written form. after passing both the exams, you will be called for the personal interview. after passing that interview, you will become an ias officer. the notification regarding the exam comes in the employment news. for more details regarding the exam, you can visit www.upsc.gov.in |
