IES Stands for Engineering Services examination and to apply for this examination, you must have a Engineering Graduate, The examination was conducted by UPSC Every year and The Notification was Updated in the UPSC Official website OR in the Employment Newspaper in the Month of January/February.

>> Candidates May choose any one of the Given Subjects on the Basis of Graduation -

(A) Civil Engineering.
(B) Mecahnical Engineering.
(C) Electrical Engineering.
(D) Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.

So, If you have study Any one of the Given Subjects in your Engineering Graduation, then you are eligible for IES Examination.

But You are From Computer Science Background, So I think you cant choose these given Branches.

So, Only those candidates are eligible to apply for IES, Who have study any one of the Branches in Graduation.

>> To apply for IES Examination your age should between 21 to 30 years.

The Notification was Announced soon the Next year in the month of February and eligible candidates may fill the application form Online by visit the UPSC Website.

Candidates can also Obtained the application form directly form the Post offices In India.

In UPSC Website It was Mentioned that - A candidate possessing a degree in Engineering in any discipline is eligible for taking Engineering Service Examination.

>> But the question is that, If you have study Computer science in Your Engineering course, then how can you handle the above given Streams, because your stream are totally different. So, I think you cant apply for IES Examination.

No candidates from computer science background cannot apply for this test. It is a must that the candidate should have studied either mechanical, electrical, electronics or civil. Also they need to have studied the same from a recognized institute. You can apply for other government jobs if the same interests you. You can apply to BSNl, army, navy, IOCL etc.

For Engineering Service Exam, you must hold a bachelors degree in engineering.
The examination is conducted by union public service commission and apart from being a graduate in engineering, you must be within the age limit of 21-30 years. However, the maximum age limit is relaxed upto 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST category and 3 years for OBC category.

The Engineering Service Exam is conducted in the following departments of engineering:
Civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering

Yes, computer science is eligible for IES exam but you have choose below subject for written test.

Only engineering students are eligible for IES exam.



ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENT OF IES EXAM:-

IES is eligible for given below department of engineering.

1.Civil Engineering

4.Electronics and Communication Engineering.

No,computer science student cant give the entrance paper of IES.the IES exam is usually for sore branches.So there is no place for a computer engineer in IES.
Only some of branch students can give the entrance exam of IES.

ELECRTICAL ENGINEERING
CIVIL ENGINEERING
MECHENICAL ENGINEERING
ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION

These are some branch who eligible for IES exam.
