I want to know that computer science student are allowed or not to sit for Indian Engineering Service exams under upsc?

computer science students not eligible for the upsc engineering exams.only

the civil,mechanical,electrical and electronic engineering students only eligible

for the upsc engineering exams.there is various exams and you apply the

bsnl jto exam.your eligible the bsnl jto exams.

there is no paper for computer science in the IES exam,
but if you are interested in writing the exam then you can sit for any one of the branch from civil,mechanical,electrical and electronics,
you should be above 21 years of age at the time of exam and passed graduation,
also this year the last date for applying was 7-2-2011 which is over so you can apply in the next year,

yes computer science students are allowed but their is no specific stream of sylabus 4 thm...

actually computer science engineers are not eligible to give the ies exam. but that does'nt mean that you can't give the exam. you can fill the application form as an electronics and communication engineer. as most of your subjects are similar to ece engineers, you will face no problem in giving the exam.

This question has spread All over the Student Groups like a Virus that Can CSE students write IES Exam ??. But i want to remove This virus with an Anti virus Details.

Details are:-
Only Four Branches From Engineering are Eligible To write IES they are Mechanical, Civil , Electrical And Entc.

Computer Science, IT and other Branches Students are Not Eligible to write.

Yes, Computer Engineering can sit for the Engineering Service exam held by the UPSC.

Now let me tell you a few more things.The engineering service exam is primarily conducted for the following categories only:

1.Civil Engineering
2.Mechanical Engineering.
3.Electrical Engineering
4.E&C Engineering

Now since you are a computer science graduate, so you can appear for the exam, but then you have to appear for one of the above subjects only.So I think it will be a bit difficult for you, as there will be students from the above branches as well who ofcourse might find it a little easier compared to a CSE student, but a few subjects are similar and no harm in trying. So go for it, maybe, you can crack it.

Yes, you can write IES exam. IES(Indian engineering service) for computer science students. IES exam is conducted by UPSC.

The exam is conducted for the following subjects

1. Mechanical Engineering
2. Civil Engineering
3. Electrical Engineering
4. Electronics and communication Engineering

So, you can select any one subject and write the exam. Hope for the best.

No my dear friend if you are a computer science student then you cant give

the entrance paper of IES.Only some branch student can give ies exam.The

ies exam is usually for only core branches.So only some branch student can

give IES exam.

I am sorry to say that, but ,I would like to inform you, the B.tech\B.E. degree holders in IT or Computer science branch, are not eligible for the IES (INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICES),Which is conducted by the UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION (UPSC), every year..

These are few branches of engineering,

The engineering degree holders in these Stated engineering branches are eligible in this examination..

The age limit for this examination is 21-30 years for the general candidates..
21-33 years for the OBC candidates,
21-35 years for the SC\ST candidates..

the IES is been held only for these branches.....>>>
1. mechanical.
2. electrical.
3. electronics and communication.
4. civil.
but in other upsc exams he/she is eligible if he/she is graduate....

IES Stands for Indian Engineering Service examination

If you have engineering degree then you are applicable for IES exam OR M.Sc. degree or equivalent with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject is also acceptable for certain posts.

If You are from BE or B-Tech in CSE department then you are applicable for IES exam.But you can write this exam in below given subjects .You can choose any subject from given list .

1.Civil Engineering

3.Mechanical engineering
4.Electronics and Communication Engineering

The applicant age should be in between 21 yrs to 30 yrs.

SC/ST = 5 years .
OBC =3 years .
PWD =10 years .

computer science Engineers can also apply for IES exam. because according to eligibility criteria any candidate who have engineering degree in any discipline can apply for IES exam.

but you are required to give the papers in any one of the following four streams.
Civil Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
Mechanical Engineering


for appearing in exam you have to fulfill some other requirement like:

>>Engineering degree in any discipline from recognized college or university

>>your age must be within 21 years to 30 years . there is relaxation in upper age limit upto 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

Unfortunately you are not eligible to sit for the IES examination as your qualification wont permit you to do so. Only the students with an engineering degree from a recognized university or an MSc degree with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject can only apply for this examination.

To manage a large segment of public sector economy which constitutes of Railroads, Public works, Power, Telecommunications etc lots of engineers are required. IES constitutes of those engineers. To shortlist them an examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.

Under the following categories the recruitment of the candidates are made:-

• Civil Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering

The age criteria for this exam is as follows:-

Maximum Age Limit:- 30 years

The IES exam firstly consists of a written examination which is then followed by an interview session. Thus the selection procedure of this exam is quite plain and simple.

YES, students who have done BE/BTECH IN Computer Science stream can also apply for the Indian engineering services (IES) Exams


Educational Qualifications required to apply for IES exams is:

>> BE/BTECH pass in any stream
OR
>> Passed section A and Section B of Instution examinations of Institution of Engineers
Or
>> Graduate Membership Examination of Institute of electronics and Telecommunication Engineers

IES – Indian Engineering Services

IES exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission.

Sorry to say but you cannot apply for IES with Computer Science Engineering, but there are other engineering branches with which you can apply.

These are the four categories of engineering Services –

Mechanical engineering
