Can a dentist join Indian Army?
as i am a dentist by profession will i be able to join the army?

you can join army by many ways if your age is under the eligibility criteria . you can join army as: IMA:: age limit:19 to 24 yrs Graduation from recognised university SSC NON TECHNICAL (Men):: age limit:19 to 25 yrs Graduation from recognised university |

Yes ,you can join the Indian army but the main factor is your age that has to be considered.As you are a dentist by profession so that means you are above 25 years but in some exams the age is below 25 years.So you have to check it throughly.
But the educational qualification is ok for you as the minimum qualification is 12th pass in some posts. The details of some exams are as follows- 1. Indian Army Soldiers Nursing Assistant Exam Nationality : Unmarried Indian male citizens (including those of Nepal) are eligible. Age : 17˝-23 Years. Educational Qualification : SSLC / Matric (Maths, English & Biology). 2. Indian Army Soldier Clerk's Exam Eligibility (As in M.E.R. Exam) : a. Matric or its equivalent with English and Mathematics. b. Age: 16 to 23 years. 3. Army Reserve Eligibility for the Army Reserve is also open to a large majority of the civilian population. Its current requirements depend on whether you decide to simply enlist as a private or wish to purse commission as an officer. Age: 17 to 42 years. |

The candidates will get the ranks of the Indian Army but their role and responsibilities will be that of a dental officer. They will be required to take care and treat the officers in the defence services.
Eligibility: A candidate must not exceed the age of 45 years as on 31st December 2009. Educational Qualifications: A candidate must be a BDS with a minimum of 55% marks in the final year OR a candidate must be an MDS from a recognized university. A candidate must have completed one year internship latest by 30th September 2009 recognized by dental council of India. A candidate must also have a permanent dental registration certificate. No. of posts: There are 25 vacancies in total. How to apply: The candidates have to apply as per the format given in the advertisement. The candidates have to send BDS/MDS degree, class 10th certificate, dental registration certificate, internship certificate, 2 passport size photographs etc. The candidates are also required to send one self addressed post card and one self addressed envelope with a stamp of Rs6. If a candidate has completed BDS or its equal degree by the recognised university with minimum 60% marks then only the candidate is eligible. The candidates who join Army after completion of MBBS/BDS they became directly Captain in the Indian Army. After completion of MBBS/BDS you can join all three armed forces. All the best |

yes u can join as a Dentist in the indian army. You should have good percentage of marks in your BDS exam. Then there will be clinical test and interview.

Two types of commissions are offered : • PERMANENT COMMISSION • SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION The advertisement for grant of commission in A D Corps is published in most of the national and regional dailies every year. Complete details along with application form will be available in the advertisement. 2. Selection Procedure Permanent Commission :- Candidates found eligible are short listed based on their final BDS marks. Short listed candidates are called for written test and clinical test followed by an interview. Successful candidates at the written and clinical test will only be required to appear before the Selection Board for interview. Short Service Commission :- Candidates found eligible are short listed based on their final BDS marks and attempts taken in final BDS. Short- listed candidates will be required to appear before the Selection Board for interview only. Medical Examination : - All the candidates who are provisionally placed on the merit list will be brought before a medical board for medical fitness. Other Categories Dental services have three other categories or trades for the personnel below officers’ rank : Dental Operating Room Assistants (DORA) Dental Hygienists (DH) Dental Technicians (DT) The personnel of other categories are recruited through various recruitmentboards as medical assistants. Yes, you can join Army Dental Corps.
Eligibility Criteria for Direct Permanent Commission or Short Service Commission: 1. Candidate must be BDS (with minimum 60% marks in final year)/ MDS, college recognised by DCI. 2. Should have completed one year rotatory internship, recognised by the Dental Council of India on the date of application. 3. Should be in possession of Permanent Dental Registration Certificate. 4. Should be medically fit in all respects for service in the Defence Forces. 5. Age limit in case of Direct Permanent Commission is a Candidate with BDS qualification must not have attained 28 years of age on 31 Dec of the year of application. Age limit may be extended upto 30 years in case of candidate with postgraduate qualification. In case of Short Service Commission, less than 45 years of age as on 31 Dec of the year of application. To Join Indian Army as a dentist, you may take the test conducted by UPSC. Through this test, you will get into army dental corp provided you fulfill the following eligibility criteria. You should have scored a minimum of 60% in your final BDS exam. You must possess 1 year rotary internship recognized by DCI. You should also possess a permanent dental registration certificate |
