Respected Sir, I have a weak eyesight but I want to join the Merchant Navy so I want to know can I apply for Merchant Navy if I have a weak eyesight? Please answer as soon as possible.

My cousin also had same problem 10 years ago. He did laser treatment for his eye. He joined in police department. That is not a major problem. He consult with Eye specialist, then they did laser treatment for him. they could rectify your problem in some count of hours. Consult with proper Eye specialist. Then You will get idea to do laser treatment is indeed or not for your case!

If you fulfill below given criteria then you are eligible for Merchant Navy exam.

Those candidates who have passed your 12th or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from central/state board or recognized school are eligible for Merchant Navy exam. Your age should be below 20 years.

Physical criteria:-

• Eye Sight = 6/6
• Height = 167 cms
• Weight = 50 Kg
• Chest = 77 cm (Normal) / 82 cm (Expanding)
