Respected Sir, I want to become a Psychiatrist but I don't want to pursue MBBS so I want to know is it possible to become a Psychiatrist without pursuing MBBS? What is the procedure for the same? Please answer as soon as possible.

No you are not eligible for becoming Psychiatrist without pursuing MBBS degree as the basic requirement of the same is MBBS degree course.

MBBS stands for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and same is a bachelor degree of around 5 years and 6 months including one year of internship. Also after pursuing the same you will head towards becoming a doctor in your specialized field.

So for becoming Psychiatrist you will first have to complete your MBBS degree course followed by M.D. ( Doctoral Degree ) and then will have to obtain the license.

Also for pursuing MBBS degree course from top medical colleges of India you will have to qualify entrance examination like NEET and AIIMS MBBS entrance examination for which more details can be obtained from their respective links which are www.aipmt.nic.in and www.aiimsexam.org.in .
