I am afraid but you are not eligible for M.Tech. You must complete post graduation course before applying for M.Tech. Since you have completed Bachelor of Science, it would be necessary that you also complete Master of Science to apply for M.Tech course.
Master of Technology is post graduation course which is taken after completing Bachelor of Technology. The B.Sc students have two options to apply for M.Tech. You can either complete M.Sc as I mentioned earlier. Other option is doing B.Tech through lateral entry. Just like diploma holders, B.Sc graduates are also eligible for lateral entry into B.Tech. You will get admission in the second year which would make B.Tech a three years graduation course for you. Most of the universities in India will allow you admission through lateral entry scheme. The only expection would be NIT and IIT. For lateral entry admission, you must appear for Lateral Entry Engineering Test (LEET). The other option as I mentioned is M.Sc. However you can also apply for MCA and then apply for M.Tech. Although this is not something that is recommended. You can get great jobs after M.Sc and MCA. This makes no sense to apply for the M.Tech. I would say that only if you fail to find good job with M.Sc or MCA degree that you should apply for the M.Tech. Otherwise it is not recommended. To get admission in M.Tech you will have to appear for General Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE). It does not matter whether you have completed B.Tech, M.Sc or MCA, you must clear GATE entrance exam for M.Tech admission. As far as branches as concerned, since your subject for B.Sc was Computer Science, you must stick to it. Either complete M.Sc in Computer Science or Master of Computer Applications. Regardless of the course you select between the two, you can apply for M.Tech in Computer Science through GATE entrance exam. |

M.tech is masters degree in technical field. Since its a pure technical field it takes admission from technical graduates and post graduates in applied science. You cannot take admission in M.tech courses after your B.SC. You have to go for M.SC after it and then only you will be eligible to take admission in M.tech courses. Since you have completed your graduation in computer science i will suggest you to move on in this field only as it has lots of scope and large job opportunities. So complete your M.SC in this stream only and then write GATE to take admission in M.tech courses as it is the only criteria to get admission in M.tech courses in reputed engineering colleges. Also i will suggest you to complete your M.tech in computer science only. Best of luck! |

My friend
Its nice to be interacting with someone from the B.SC background.Well you are pursuing Computer Science final year. But I am really sorry your qualification are not enough to be eligible for the M.tech program. Only those candidates who are from Engineering ( B.tech ) or Masters of Science ( M.Sc ) background would be given preference for accessing this GATE exam and there M.tech and post doctoral reforms. If you satisfy the eligibility criteria of the particular university/cllege then you can surely do M.tech(cs) from that university/college. A variety of career options open up for post graduates after doing M.tech(cs). Real-time and embedded systems Information Security Software Engineering Connected Systems Entertainment Systems IT-assisted education Computer applications in finance and commerce Eligibility criteria for Admission in M.tech : Candidate should complete their 4 years graduation from recognized university . You have to write GATE exam or PGECET examination. |

Dear Friend!
Eligibility for M.Tech should be i)A candidate must posses his/her degree in Technical field(B.Tech) with 60% marks. But you are not Technical background sorry to say.But till you have a chance to do M.Sc in IITs. ii)My personal suggestion would be now a days GRE is the most popular exam.If anyone want to GRE a candidate must posses his/her degree in any filed Technical or science field. So you are eligible for that exam. Many of the IITians also want to do M.Sc in foreign so go for GRE. |

M.Tech stands for Master of Technology.
This is a 2 year Post Graduation level course being offered by number of Engineering colleges in India. Here is the minimum academic qualification required to join this course. One should have completed Graduation in Engineering with any of the stream. No minimum percentage of marks are required for the candidates in Engineering course. Candidates who are pursuing final year of Engineering course are also eligible to apply for the Entrance Exam. The respective Entrance Exam that you should crack is GATE Exam. GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. This Exam is being conducted by IITs once in a year. There is no upper age limit to give this Exam. In addition, there is no limit on the number of attempts for this Exam. GATE score is valid for a period of 2 years. As you have completed Graduation in B.Sc, you are not eligible to join M.Tech course by cracking GATE Exam. However, you are eligible to join MCA course at Post Graduation level which is also having good career scope and job opportunities for the candidates. Wish you all the best. |
