NIT stands for National Institute of Technology.

The admission to Indian Institute of Technology is given on basis of rank of Joint Entrance examination conducted by CBSE. Admission to NIT is not given on basis of state level engineering entrance exam of Uttar Pradesh.

You should appear for JEE Main exam if you want to get admission in NIT, Lucknow.

There is no NIT in Lucknow. BBDNITM,Lucknow is not a NIT. See the list of 30 NITs in India..
