i attended 2011 gate and hoping to get 49 marks.can i get atleast one iit or any nit.please guide me.could you specify what range of rank did i get?

no,it is not possible you should have to gate more marks in GATE to get admission in IIT and nit

Based on the marks you get/hope, you cannot estimate accuarately approximate percentile or rank you would get. It depends on many factors. Some of them are type of question paper ie. difficult or easy, number of students who appeared in exam, average marks obtained by them... But if you want to carry out a rough estimate you can do so by knowing the same result of senior person who had qualified the exam last year & placed into iit/nit & approx. marks they obtained.

Basic format of calculating gate score is described below:

The GATE score is calculated using the following formula:

GATE SCORE = 10[ag + sg {(m - a)/s}]
where,

m = marks obtained by the candidate.

a = average of marks of all candidates who appeared in the paper mentioned on this scorecard in GATE 2010, with all marks less than zero, converted to zero.

s = standard deviation of marks of all candidates who appeared in the paper mentioned on this scorecard in GATE 2010, with all marks less than zero, converted to zero.

ag = average (global) of marks of all candidates who appeared across all papers and years 2007-2010, with all marks less than zero, converted to zero.

sg = standard deviation (global) of marks of all candidates who appeared across all papers and years 2007-2010, with all marks less than zero, converted to zero.

The GATE score is set to zero if the value calculated by the above formula is less than zero and the GATE score is set to 1000 if the value calculated by the above formula is more than 1000.

Last year the person who has same marks is now in IIT. and this year the competition is low because last year there was recession but now it is not..beside this fact other new IIT are also ready..

I hv got 857 rank n 701 gate score. my percentile is 99.36 in gate 2011. what are my chances to get into any of the iits.

i appeared in gate 2011 and i secured air-1504 with a score of 632 is this score sufficient to join in nit warangal,surathkal,trichy,calicut and i belongs to general category

hii, iit for sure do apply in all iit s... please prepare well for interviews dont think only marks count they willl squeeze all your knowledge and test ,best of luck.

can i get nit warangal or nit trichy (communication or VLSI) with 50.677 marks,AIR 1967 and gate score is 605 in 2011?

you have no chance for top most IIT institute but you have chance in new IIT s.

but you have lots of chance in NIT.

Ur not saying any rank, branch you belonging and percentile u got.depends on that the admission will be done.last year admissions ECE branch by depending on is as follows
1-100 IIT's
100-200 NIT'S
200 -1000 Universities
>1000 --< 2000 Private aided better collegs
This admissions for Open categeory students
