career in merchant navy can be pursued by two fields.

*) marine engineering
*) nautical (deck).

the jobs and eligibility criteria in merchant navy is as follows:

*) 3 year degree course in nautical science----------- for 10th and +2 students
*) 4 year degree course in marine engineering--------- for 10th and +2 students
*) 2 year course----------for diploma students
*) 1 year course----------for graduate mechanical engineers.
*) 3 month course for deck cadets----------for 10th and +2 students.


the government institutes which offer these courses are:

*) training ship chanakya in navi mumbai
*) marine engineering & research institute in kolkata
*) marine engineering & research institute in mumbai
*) lal bahadur shastri college of maritime studies and research in mumbai.

I think for merchant navy you need to apply for nda and the eligibility for it is :

*You have passed your 12th from recognized board with PCM.

*Age limit 16.5-19 yrs..

You make the above info sure..

It is not possible to join Merchant Navy after completing 10th standard. You will at least have to complete 12th standard to get job in Merchant Navy. Therefore I will suggest you to continue with the studies.

After completing school the candidate can apply for the deck cadet job in the Merchant Navy. However it is not possible to apply until you have completed 12th standard that too with subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Unless you complete 12th standard with the subjects mentioned above, there is no job for you in the Merchant Navy. What this means is that commerce and arts students are simply not eligible for job in merchant navy.

Therefore firstly complete 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry and Maths. After which you can directly apply for deck cadet job. If you are selected then the company itself will arrange 3 months long pre sea course. Generally the company arranges this course but in some cases you may have to do it by yourself.

The other option after completing 12th would be not to apply for deck cadet and pursue further education to stand a chance of getting officer level job. The officer level jobs are the best in Merchant Navy that actually pays well and the candidate is also eligible for additional perks which includes bringing your wife onboard.


Eligibility

1. You will have to complete 12th PCM from recognized board.

2. The candidate should not be older than 20 years to apply.

3. SC/ST can apply till 25 years.

4. The candidate applying should be unmarried.

5. You should pursue either Marine Engineering or B.Sc Nautical Science.


The candidate who have completed B.Tech in Mechanical/Electrical/Technology can also avail the benefit of direct entry and get officer level job. Upon selection the candidates will have to undergo 9 months long pre sea course in Marine Engineering.

I am sorry to say that you can not eligible for the Merchant Navy after 10th class.

You need to complete the 12th standard with PCM subjects.

To join the Merchant Navy you should crack the NDA exam.

NDA stands for National Defense Academy.

This exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission two times in a year.

NDA - I

NDA - II

NDA has three wings:

Navy

Indian Army

Indian Air force

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidate should origin of India.

Candidate should pass the 12th standard from recognized state board of India.

Percentage not required for this exam.

PCM subjects are compulsory for the Navy & Airforce.

Your age limit should be between 16.5 to 19 years.

No upper age relaxation for other categories.

Only unmarried male candidates are eligible for the Merchant Navy.

Girls are not eligible for the Merchant Navy.

You can join Merchant Navy after passing 12th .

To get job in merchant Navy you have to complete Merchant Navy course first.

No it's not possible to join merchant navy after class 10. You are Atleast required to complete your class 12.
