Unfortunately you can not apply for Merchant Navy. The minimum requirement to apply for merchant navy is 12th standard with PCM subjects. Since you completed 10+2 in commerce there is no opening for you in the merchant navy.


For officer level posts in merchant navy, a candidate should have B.Tech in Marine Engineering or nautical science degree. To pursue any of these two degrees, you need to have completed 10+2 in science stream.


There is a direct way as well to get job in merchant navy, but once again you need 10+2 in PCM in order to get the job of Deck Cadet. As you can see now that there is no way for you being a commerce student to get job in merchant navy.



Please check the eligibility criteria below for your satisfaction.


Eligibility

1. Minimum qualification requirement is 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

2. You must pursue B.Sc in nautical science or B.Tech in Marine Engineering.

3. Age Limit is 20 years.

4. There si 5 years relaxation for SC/ST.

5. Candidate should be unmarried.

6. There is a need to clear medical test.




Direct Entry


Candidates having completed 10+2 in PCM can directly apply for Deck Cadet job.

If you have completed B.Tech in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Technology then you can apply for various jobs in merchant navy. However you will have to go through 9 months long pre-sea course in marine engineering from MERI.
