dear, sir my eye sight is weak and i wear specs of (-2) so can i qualifiy for nda

Hi friend, in now days, with the help of advanced technology, if you can get an operation with the q lasik technique and after that operation, if your eyes are 6 by 6, then only you can apply for Indian army.
Because these days, Indian army has allowed the relaxation of operated 6 by 6 eyes, but if you want to join the Indian air force then it is not possible for you to join the air force because Indian air force does not allow the operated eyes even if they're 6 by 6.

NDA stand for National Defence Service Exam.This exam is conduct twice time in a year.This exam is conducted by UPSC.

NDA Examination is conducted in 3 wings- Indian Air Force ,Indian Navy and Indian Army

If you have completed 12th standard from recognized board then you are applicable for NDA exam.But your age should be in between 16.5 to 19 years.

Only unmarried male candidate are applicable for NDA exam.You must have citizenship of India.

Maximum time they reject the candidate of eye-sight problem.You must checked the criteria of eye-sight .If you have matched it then you can definitely applicable.



Color blind candidate are strongly not eligible but you have some chances for NDA .If you have qualify the eye-sight exam.

As per your query , i think you are not eligible for NDA exam .

National Defence Academy (NDA) exam is conducted through UPSC every year twice i.e NDA - I & II.There are certain eligibility criteria to fulfill for appearing this exam..

**The candidates should be a 10+2 pass from a recognize board.
**The age limit is 16.5 - 19 yrs.

NDA stands for National Defency Test.
This exam is conducted by UPSC,twice in a year.
NDA require a person with accurate eye sight,with the weakness of eye sight you can not go for NDA.
But if you take treatment means operation then after that if your eyes are 6 by 6 then you can go for NDA,but Indian Air Force not allowed a person after operation even you got 6 by 6 but Indian Air Force not allowed.

Indian Army
Indian Navy
Indian Air Force

Indian Army :
Read in distant vision chart with each eye with or without glass
Myopia : not more then 2.5D
Hypermetropia : not more than 3.5D including Astigmatism

Indian Navy & Air Force :

Distant vision 6/6 , 6/9 correctable to 6/6
Near vision N-5 each eye
Myopia : Nil
Hypermetropia : +2D
Astigmatism : +0.75 color vision

Hello dear aspirant, as you have a weak eyesight and want to National Defense Academy which is conducted by UPSC, so for your information there are two types of statuses given to the applying students:

After you have cleared your written test then you will be called for the SSB after successful completion of the SSB a medical test need to be passed by the candidate. so the two types of statuses are:

Permanent : If you are found to have this kind of problem then you will be rejected by them and you will not be considered for the merit procedure

Temporary : If your problem is found to be of this category then you will be given a limit of around 8 months before joining the Academy to get yourself all well, you can utilize this time and can get laser or other kind of surgery, and if you report under the given time limit ,then you will be called for it.

If you have a weak eyesight , then it will be quite difficult to qualify for NDA .

nda some educational qualifications as well as physical qualifications

required eyesight for nda :

good eyesight should be 6/6, 6/9 uncorrected without glass,
your eyesight should be 6/6, 6/6 with glass

though its a hi tech world you can use lenses if your eyesight is weak

For the NDA concerned it is very strict incase of the Physical fitness .According to the Eye Sight eligibility for the NDA is

Without Glasses

Better Eye sight - 6/6
Worse Eyes sight - 6/9

With Eye Glasses

Better Eye sight - 6/6
Worse Eye sight - 6/6

The candidates must follow the eye sight requirements in any cases if the candidates any defects in their eye sight then such candidates are rejected from the further selection tests.So you have to fit in all respects of the body you should not have any defects in your body.

In case Even though If you apply then you will be rejected in the NDA medical Examination.


The candidates must have all requirements specified in the Notification.

About the Notification

The Notification is given in the employment news papers and also in the offcial website of the UPSC

Apart from this you should know other edibility conditions also. This exam is conducted every year and In order to apply for the exam at least you have to complete Intermediate.

in order to get a decent job in the Raw and Intellligence Wing popularly known as RAW, you need to appear in the examination which is conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs MHA, the exam is ACIO.
This is the Assistant commander post in the intelligence bureau and after promotion after some years, you may get into the RAW as a specialist.
The exam is conducted almost every year. The age limit for appearing in this exam is 21-28 years.
The eligibility condition for apppearing in this examination is that you need to be a graduate from any recognized Indian university and your age should be in between 21-28 years.
A relaxation of 3 years is given to the obc and a relaxation of 5 years is given to the sc/st category students.

You are not eligible for N.D.A.
You will be rejected in Medical Exam.

Eye Sight:-

Distant vision 6/6,
6/9 correctable to 6/6.

Near vision N-5 each eye,

Myopia: Nil

Hypermetropia: +2 D Sph.

Astigmatism +0.75
Color Vision CPI (MLT).

Sorry to say but you are not eligible for the exam because the eligibilty for NDA requires a perfect vision where you have -6.5 .

If you go to a eye specialist and he advises you for the laser operation then.only you can go for nda .
You have time right now to check an eye specialist if he says yes and gives you the surety for a perfect vision after the laser operation then only you can think to give your exam which is going to be in month of july .

Sir my eyesight is -3.0 both eyes , can I eligible for navy or army ??? And is LASIK laser operation is permitable for Indian navy???? .......sir plzzzz reply , I'll be waiting..??
