Re: Can i take admission in IIT after B.Com? I am pursuing A level from DOEACC
No you can not take admission in Indian Institute of Technology after completing B.Com. The simple reason is that IIT does not offer lateral entry to any candidates. Even when lateral entry is applied for admission in B.Tech, it is only for candidates who have either completed diploma in Engineering or B.Sc course. In your case B.Com is not applicable.
Similarly to apply for M.tech course in IITs or any other Engineering college you need to have B.Tech degree only after which you are eligible to appear in GATE entrance exam. The requirement for admission in M.Tech is that you appear and crack the GATE entrance exam. Only those who perform exceptionally well have some chance to get admission in IIT for M.Tech course but not before giving written test and interview. The DOEACC A Level course if I am not mistaking is Equivalent to Advanced Diploma in Computer Applications. That is not going to help you either. I am really sorry about that. However I have heard that those who complete A Level course are eligible for jobs in Japan. So this is something you can look at. The only way it is possible for B.Com candidate to do Engineering is if he/she complete post graduation course in Master of Computer Applications. This is certainly one possibility for you. However for MCA course you need to have maths as a subject in 12th standard or graduation course. It may sound strange but candidates who have completed MCA can also apply for M.Tech course by appearing for the GATE entrance exam. I am afraid this is the only way to get admission in IIT after B.Com. There is no other option. |

Hi dear..
I am sorry to say , but you can't take admission in any IIT, because for taking even admission under lateral entry, you may be doing diploma or B.Sc. But as you have completed your B.Com , you are not eligible. Regards Sammy |
