NET Exam stands for National Eligibility Test for Lectureship and is conducted by University Grant Commission. This test is mandatory for candidates willing to join colleges and universities as Lecturer/Assistant Professor. The test is conducted for various subjects from every discipline and depending upon the qualification, candidates need to opt for a particular subject.

Now, in order to be eligible for the test, one must have qualified Masters Degree examination with a minimum of 55% marks. Candidates who have qualified masters degree program in a particular subject/stream are eligible to take the test in the same.

Candidates holding a qualification which is not equivalent to masters degree program are not considered eligible for the National Eligibility Test for Lectureship.
