VAO Exam Eligibility Criteria:

~Tamilnadu Public Service Commission conducts an examination to recruit Village Administrative Officers. To give this exam certain eligibility criteria needs to be satisfied. They are as follows:

~You need to have secondary school leaving certificate to give this exam. Although this is the minimum qualification required but even if you have higher qualifications then also you need to show this certificate to be considered eligible.

~You have to attain the minimum age of 18 years to give this exam. The upper age limit is 30 years for general category candidates. For reserved category candidates it is 40 years.

~You should know how to speak in Tamil as you will be posted in the villages of Tamilandu where the villagers speaks in Tamil. So to avoid communication problem you need to know this language.

~If you do not know Tamil then on getting selected you will have to give Tamil language exam which is conducted by TNPSC again and have to secure the pass marks in it.

~To prove your medical fitness you will be asked to show medical certificates to the authorities concerned during exam time.

~Selection procedure is primarily based on the written exam. Other factors which are considered are the district chosen by you and the number of reservations of the district in question.

~For the exam you will get questions from general knowledge and general tamil/general english. While the first paper is bilingual, the second paper is optional. So you will get the chance of stating your preferences in the application form.

~150 marks each have been allotted for each paper and you will get three hours to complete the whole paper. There will be 200 questions to answer and all of them will be of S.S.L.C. standard.

~Cost of the application form for the general category candidates is Rs. 150 and for reserved category candidates it is Rs. 50.
