Re: Difference between M.Tech and M.S?
The Basic Difference In Both These Courses Are, MS is Masters of science and Mtech is Masters of Technology. The M.Tech course is a More Detailed Course with a lot of Study in it. Under the M.Tech degree, one has to Attend Regular classes in order to gain knowledge about the Subject.
In M.Tech course duration is 2 years You Are Just doing 1 year project but not reserch oriented project But In M.S the course duration from 2-4 years but it is purely reserch oriented. |

Re: Difference between M.Tech and M.S?
Hi,
Actually M.Tech and MS are almost same. M.Tech- master of technology. In India, The master courses for engineering is called M.Tech and there is a course called M.Sc in India. Its a two year course. MS means Master of Science. In abroad, They don't differentiate between engineering and other science course. It is mainly related with research. All the best. Thank you. |

Re: Difference between M.Tech and M.S?
Dear Friend,
The basic difference between M.Tech. and M.S. are as follows: - M.Tech. stands for Master in Technology and M.S. stands for Master in Science. M.Tech. and M.S. both are a two year course. M.Tech. and M.S. both are equivalent course. M.Tech. courses are based on project & research and M.S. are only research oriented course. In M.Tech. you learn / study about technologies and advanced technologies, but in M.S. you learn / study about science & its technologies. Good Luck |

Re: Difference between M.Tech and M.S?
well friend MS and M.Tec. degrees can not be compared they are almost equivalent
with the emphasis of MS being on research work.. you get to work under a guide and in there are few theory classes with lots of time for study... It is a better course if you are much interested in some particular field of study....and you want specialization in That. M.Tech on the other hand is more course oriented and is just like B.tech programs with lots of classes (particularly in first year)... you will have one project to be completed under a guide In M.S. can take 2-4 years while M.tech is a 2 year course. In ms it becomes a lot more important which professor you are working under ,his qualification and how helping he is... Both the courses are available in india MS is generally preferred from US EUROPE etc. |

Re: Difference between M.Tech and M.S?
M.Tech is master in technology and M.S is master in science.
there are lots of difference between this two course. first of all there are difference between the word science and technology. technology is the application of science. Technology mainly deals with the practical knowledge where as science mainly deal with theory. if you study M.s then you will learn theory knowledge on the subject in Deep. but if you go for M.Tech you will learn theory as well as application. after M.Tech you will appropriate for industry job but after M.S you will be appropriate for research field. the job opportunity and scope is more after M.Tech. i think if you want to study more and want to do research then go for M.S otherwise M.Tech is the best option. best wishes. |

Re: Difference between M.Tech and M.S?
Hello,
*According to my knowledge, M.Tech is a kind of regular course where you sit in a classroom and listen to the lectures. Attendance is compulsory and it is not a part time course. You get one project to do which you should do under the guidance of a professor, simultaneously with these classes. *M.S is completely different as you get to interact with the professor more and there will be less of classroom classes. More time for the research activities thus can do your project better. *Another difference between the two courses is the duration of course. *M.Tech course is generally of 2 years(i.e. 4semesters).The projects and the course both have to be completed in 2years, *In case of MS degree courses, one can stretch up the course to 3 to 4 years till he doesn’t complete his or her project. So your course doesn’t get over till you finish your project along with complete knowledge in that subject. I hope things are more clear to you. If you need any further details regarding admission procedure, please feel free to ask. |

Re: Difference between M.Tech and M.S?
Hello,
Basically there are several difference between M.tech & M.S, but i tell the most superior... i mention some points of difference between M.tech & M.S and these are: M.tech is engineering qualification means Master Of Technology. Where as M.S is a medical qualification means Master Of Surgery . M.tech is done in india. Where as M.S is done in abroad. M.tech is doing after B.tech. Where as M.S is doing after MBBS. Another major difference is that : M.Tech is a 2 year course. Where as M.S in India can extend as long as 3-4 years till your project gets completed. So decide your goal & make your life happy with your superb efforts.. Best of luck.. |

these both course are different.
In M.Tech course duration is 2 years.we r just doing 1 year project but not reserch oriented project . M.S the course duration from 2-4 years but it is purely reserch oriented. M.S is always preferred over M.Tech. The major difference between the two is for doing your M Tech degree you must be strong enough to crack GATE examination where as, for pursuing MS you need to have great grip over English and aptitude. |

Re: Difference between M.Tech and M.S?
Since as you must know that the courses basically differ by their abbreviation i.e Masters in Technology and Masters in Science.Other than that they differ in other streams like M.tech deals more applications practically but M.S is all about theoretical knowledge more than practical knowledge.
Other than that the subject is more or less the same if you take up a specific course in a stream.M.tech is a two year course where the first year consists of theory and the second year is all about project work.MS or M.Sc is a three/four year course since it depends upon the course which you want to undertake. |

Re: Difference between M.Tech and M.S?
Hi
Just like B.tech and B.E are different like B.E stands for Bachelor in Engineering and B.Tech is the Bachelor in Technology. Now many years back there were only colleges which provided sole technical degrees, so in those times in those colleges, the Engineering degrees were called the Bachelor in Engineering. However years later many new and bigger universities came into being which started offering courses on various backgrounds like Arts, Humanities, Commerce , Science. So these universities changed the Engineering name to Bachelors of Technology. Similarly M.S stands for the Master's in Science and M.Tech stands for the Masters's in Technology. Master's in Technology prevails in India, while most of the US universities offer M.S programs. M.S is a more detailed program and hence more comprehensive. It would have all the detailed studies about the master's program related to that subject. Whereas in India, we have M.Tech offered by the IIT's, NIT's and other colleges. Its also a nice course, 2 years long but it has relative areas of specializations which are being taught in the 2 years. So courses in India are usually called the M.Techs. Hope this helps All the best Regards #RJ# |

Re: Difference between M.Tech and M.S?
In India we call MSc(Master of Science) a postgraduate program of three years. M.Tech. (Master of Technology) a postgraduate program for Engineering field of two years. In abroad MS (Master of Science) a postgraduate program for all science streams of 2 to 4 years. No separate name for technical postgraduate program. Syllabus wise in every country and in every institute it differs. Depends on University |

Re: Difference between M.Tech and M.S?
hai friend...............
well in M.Tech, you have to clear GATE exam, and only GATE exam marks is all you need to get a college in India.....GATE exam is conducted by IISc(Indian Institute of Sciences) and through the GATE exam you can apply to any institute/college in India.....you dont need to give any other exam/interview for any other college.....the marks alone will be sufficient to get the college......i.e.there will be no interview apart from the exam, and the fee for it is reasonable.... and for MS(Master of Science),you have to clear GRE exam.....and it is for foreign universities.......but here only GRE marks cant guarantee you to get a good university, here overall result of yours actually count which includes your college performance(both academic and extra-curricular),the selection criteria also includes your recognition, your major+minor projects......and for scholarships you have to give exams like Toefl exam..... after securing decent marks in the GRE exam, you have to apply to various universities along with your resume......and applying to single university costs around 10k.....its a bit costly affair.....doing MS costs you around 20-30 lakhs... all the best |
