As far as you are concerned about the validity of degree courses pursued in distance mode of education for appearing in the UPSC examinations, then I would like to let you know that all degree courses offered by recognised university either in distance mode or regular mode are acceptable for UPSC examinations.

Therefore, having completed your B.Sc. in Nautical Science degree course from IGNOU, you are eligible to appear in any UPSC examination with the minimum educational requirement of a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university.

For more details various examinations held by UPSC, you can refer to the official link of UPSC i.e; www.upsc.gov.in.
