Drug inspector is a demanding field in India. (1.)The work of drug inspector is to inspect the manufacturing,storage and handling of drugs.the person also deals with sale of drugs for license, records, cleanliness, prices, and adulterated drugs and to initiate action against violators of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. (2.)Eligibility Criteria Anyone who has a degree in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences or Medicine with specialization in Clinical Pharmacology or Microbiology from a University established in India is eligible for post of drug inspector in India. (3.)Salary The average salary a drug inspector gets is 1.6lac-1.8lac pa. (4.)Exam Syllabus There should be 8 units containing the following : UNIT-I.- FORENSIC PHARMACY - 1. Drugs and Cosmetics Act,1940 and Rules there under, 1945 with amendments. 2. Pharmacy Act,1948 3. Drug price Control Order, 1995. 4. Medical termination of pregnancy Act, 1971. 5. Poison Act, 1919 and Dangerous Drugs Act, 1930. 6. Drugs and Magic Remedy Act, 1954. 7. Medical and Toilet preparation Act, 1955. 8. Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act. 9. Trade Mark Registration Act. 10. Pharmaceutical Ethics. UNIT - II - MANUFACTURING PHARMACY. 1. Tablet and Tablet Coating,. 2. Capsule. 3. Emulsion, Suspension, Ointment and Cream. 4. Ophthalmic Solutions. 5. Blood Fluid and Electrolytes. 6. Parental preparation and Quality Control. 7. Surgical Dressing. 8. Biological Preparation….(Serra, Vaccine & Anti-Serra). 9. Bi pharmaceutics. UNIT - III- PHARMACEUTICAL ANALYSIS. 1. Limit Test. 2. Bio-Asset. 3. Sterility Test. 4. Pyrogen Test. 5. Theory & Application of Calorimeter, Flerimeter, Nephlometer, and Turbidity, U.V. Visible Spectrophotometer. 6. Karl Fischer Titration. 7. Alcohol determination. 8. Microbiological Asset of Vitamins, Antibiotics and Vaccine Preparation. UNIT - IV - MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY -. Following Classes :- 1. Structure, Storage and Preparation of Brand names of the steroids (definition, classification etc.). 1. Sedatives and Hypnotics. 2. Psycho-therapeutic Agents. 3. Anti Histamine Agents. 4. Analgesics(narcotic, non-narcotic) 5. Cardiovascular Agents. UNIT - V - PHARMACOLOGY; Source, Chemical constituents, uses and adulteration of the following classes of natural drugs: Rauwalfia, Bella dona, Cinchona, Cinnamon, Digitalis, Senna, Aloe, , Opium Alkaloid, Kurchi, Brahmi, Tulsa, Bel and Ephedra. UNIT - VI - PHARMACOLOGY & TOXICOLOGY. Introduction and general principle :- Mode of action, drug receptor interaction, drug antagonist, absorption, distribution, metabolism and exertion, rate of administration, Bi availability, drug dependence and addiction, drug abuse and toxicity, drug adverse reaction, Drug allergy and Bio statics. UNIT - VII - HOSPITAL & CLINICAL PHARMACY - Handling of prescription, Incompatibility, Storage condition of drug, Clinical Pharmacy and its role in Hospital. UNIT - VIII - ANATOMY, PHYSIOLOGY & HEALTH EDUCATION - 1. Elementary knowledge of following systems :- Blood, Digestive System , respiratory system, Eye, Ear, Reproduction system and Urinary system. 1. Nutrition, First Aid and Population Control, AIDS Control. (5.)Exam The DI examination is generally a State Service under the Health & Family Welfare Department ,conducted by Orissa Public Service Commission(OPSC) ,Maharashtra Public Service Commission(MPSC)as well as Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) etc.. you have to finish b.pharm in any medical instution to become a Drug Inspector Post in any pharmaceutical company and hospital .. Drug Inspector having good scope today

Food and drug inspector job involves gathering samples of products for bacteriological and chemical laboratory analysis and informing concerned authority of specific policies. The job profile also involves demolishing degraded, or prohibited, damaged or misbranded items. The drug inspector is also required to questions employees, vendors and consumers so as to attain confirmation for prosecuting violators. Also preparing reports, recommendations for action, grade products according to specified standards, test products etc are some of the jobs related to the drug inspector.

Who have not less than 18 months' experience in testing of at least one of the substances in Schedule C in a Laboratory approved for this purpose by the licensing authority; or 3. Who have gained experience of not less than three years in the inspection of firms manufacturing any of the substances specified in Schedule C during the tenure of their services as Drugs Inspectors; shall be authorised to inspect the manufacture of the substances mentioned in Schedule C. |

Dear friend,
Drug Inspector exams are conducted by mostly by all state government for their states. The eligibility criteria for this exam is given below. You must have completed degree in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences or Medicine with specialization in Clinical Pharmacology or Microbiology from a recognized University or equivalent. Also you have 3 years' experience in the manufacture or testing of Biological . Your age must be above 18 years.Your maximum age must be below 32 years.
