Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is consider as the best institute of India for the engineering and Technology course. To appear in the IIT JEE you need 60% marks in the 12th class. Every year a large number of aspirant appear in this exam to test their fate but seat is limited so competition becomes really hard. For the diploma holder candidates the b.Tech course is of duration 3 years. The diploma holder candidates can take admission in the direct 2nd year of B.Tech course through lateral entry examination. Re: Duration of Civil Engineering course?
Well all engineering degree courses have a duration of 4 years and diploma courses have a duration of 3 years .For diploma courses you can apply after 10th exam but for the degree courses you can apply only after passing your class 12th with physics ,maths and chemistry as a compulsory subjects. So if you want to join the the degree civil engineering course then you should take exams like AIEEE,IIT JEE and other state entrance exams and college specific exams .
If you joins Btech after doing the poly technique then the duration of the course is 3 years as you will directly get admission in the second year .You do not need to study the first year of engineering .You can join college through lateral entry . To appear for IIT JEE you should have 60% makrs in class 12th where as for AIEEE there is no such criteria. You can take IIT JEE 2 times only and that too consecutively once when you are in 12th class and 2nd after passing 12th class. For AIEEE you can take exams in similar manner but three times only. IIT JEE and AIEEE are the exams which held in the national level to select students for best institutes in the nation including IIT's and NIT's respectively |

Re: Duration of Civil Engineering course?
After passing 12th class the Duration is 2 years for civil or any other engineering course.
But a diploma is of 3 years. So better to get a degree instead of diploma as after getting that you can pursue your masters in the particular field which is offcourse a 2 year course. |

Re: Duration of Civil Engineering course?
Civil Engineering is a four year degree.
B Tech (Civil Engineering) is an undergraduate level degree course, awarded after completion of three or four year studies in this field from a recognized university or any other deemed institution. B Tech (Civil Engineering) degree apart from theoretical knowledge also involves classroom and on the job training to construct bridges, roads, canals and dams. Eligibility The following eligibility may be needed to pursue B. Tech. (Civil Engineering) A student needs to clear higher secondary from a recognized board with very high marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Institutions also ask for an general admission test for admission into the course or sometimes offer their own test for admission. Duration The duration B Tech (Civil Engineering) is a four year course including one year practical or on the job training. Scope The scope of B Tech (Civil Engineering) is: B Tech (Civil Engineering) can provide you a good job in any construction industry. It gives you an opportunity to construct bridges, roads, canals and dams. Students with this degree are finding a huge scope not only in construction work but also in maintenance, repair and upgrading of old bridges, roads, canals and dams. The scope is wide as you can work in a public sector company including railways and armed forces or open your own construction company. B Tech (Civil Engineering) gives you opportunity to study M Tech degree in the same field. For those wanting to pursue their career in India, the degree provides a lot of scope in rural environment. It also gives you a chance to move abroad or grab a job with MNC's. Course Structure The Course Structure of Civil Engineer is divided into 2 parts which has 2 categories. Re: Duration of Civil Engineering course?
Your friends are true to a certain extent because...
In civil engineering, there are different courses viz 1) Diploma -it is a three year course 2)Btech/BE- it is three/four year course 3)Mtech- it is a two year course that can be done only after Btech/BE Regarding btech, generally it is a four year course, but if it is done after diploma , then it is three year course because after diploma you can apply for LEET/WEBJEE for Lateral entry scheme, by which you can get admission in 2nd year. For a four year btech course, you can apply for certain entrance exams after passing 12th. |

Re: Duration of Civil Engineering course?
Hey,
A civil engineer needs to have a sharp, analytical and practical mind and give attention to details. Excellent communication skills is a necessity and he should have the ability to get along at all levels, as part of a team. He should be good at organizing and solving problems. He may need to work under pressure and have the ability to keep calm during crisis. Engineering courses are available at two levels. There are the degree and postgraduate degree courses offered by the engineering colleges Selection to the graduate courses ( BE / B.Tech ) is based on merit i.e the marks secured in the final exams of 10+2 and through entrance exams. Selection to the postgraduate courses ( M.Sc / M.Tech) in different universities is through an 'All India Combined Entrance exam' For doing the bachelor's degree the duration is 4 years For master's degree the duration is 2 years Best of luck!!! |

The duration of almost all under Graduate Engineering courses are of Four years duration including Civil Engineering.
Diploma holder who get admission through lateral entry scheme to 2nd year of B.Tech. courses shall have to purse for three years to complete B.Tech. course. The candidate having 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with 50% marks from a recognised Board can be admitted to B.Tech. courses through entrance exam generally conducted by most of the Institutions. The candidate those who wants to purse M.Tech.(Master of Technology) can be admitted to this course after completion of B.Tech course through entrance exam like GATE(Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) which of two years duration. |

HIeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Diploma is equivalent to 11-12. So, you can join any course that requires 10 +2 of the eligibility criteria. There are many such courses. BSc BSc course in general to you, you can can MSc and PhD. You can go into research work. Also, you can do MBA after completion of undergraduate courses. Another option is known in the fashion industry. You can include any course in fashion designing. Also, you can include in the course of architecture and interior design. If you are interested in literarute you could become editor. You can do the course of journalism. If you are interested in computer courses go for computer 3D and animation courses you are trying to be very high demand they can. ALL THE BEST |

Dear friend,
Civil Engineering is generally a 4 year course. But if you had already done Diploma, then you can take directly admission in II year of this UG Course and in this way your 1 year is saved. That's why it becomes 3 year course. For getting admission in good colleges like IITs, NITs, you will have to crack exams like IIT-JEE, AIEEE with good ranks. Then only, you will be able to take admission for Civil Engineering in these colleges. |
