Yes,It is true that you will not be eligible to appear in Income Tax Officer,until you will not get complete and Pass your Graduation.

Eligibility for Applying in Income Tax Officer Exam

Nationality - Indian.

Educational qualification :- You must be Graduation/Degree pass out in any stream from recognized university.

Marks :- Your minimum marks in Graduation should be 50%.

Age :-

>>Your minimum age should be 18 years.
>>Your age should not be above 28 years.

You will also able to get the age relaxation facility if you comes under the reserved category as per government norms.Its details are :-

>>For SC/ST category - 5 years
>>For OBC category - 3 years.
>>For Physically Handicapped/Widows - 5 years.

In order to appear in this exam,you will have to apply for SSC CGL(Combined Graduate Level) Exam.

Its Exam Notification will come from 19th March 2013.
Exam Fee - Rs 100 for General/OBC Category and for SC/ST - Rs 50 Only.

To become an Income Tax Officer you must apply for SSC CGL examination.

This exam is conducted for many posts and Income Tax Officer is one of them. So if you the required qualification then you can apply for it.

The basic qualification for SSC CGLE is Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University.

The age required for SSC CGLE is as follows:

General Category- 18 to 27 years

OBC Category- 18 to 30 years

SC/ST Category- 18 to 33 years

So if you are in final year of Graduation and you are expecting your result in time then you can apply for SSC CGL exam.

The selection will be based on the performance in the Objective Type papers in TIER I and TIER II . After paper there will be skill test or Interview based on the post applied .

Only graduation completed candidates are eligible for Income Tax exam, so first complete your graduation then after apply this exam. This exam is conducted by the SSC(Staff Selection Commission).

Income Tax Officer Exam Eligibility Criteria:-

To become an income tax officer you need to sit for a written exam and an oral exam. Both are conducted by the Staff Selection Committee. This is undoubtedly one of the most important department as it helps in collecting lots of revenues for the government. So it goes without saying that this post carries a lot of pressure and responsibility all at the same time.

Educational Qualification: To become an income tax officer you need to be a graduate first. Complete graduation in any discipline of your choice from a recognized university and you are eligible to sit for this exam.

Age Limit: Lower age limit is 18 years and the upper age limit for general category candidates is 27 years.

Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxed for the following categories:-

~SC/ST Candidates: 5 yrs.
~OBC Candidates: 3 yrs.
~PWD Candidates: 10 yrs.

Selection Procedure:- Following are the stages or hurdles you have to go through:-
