See if you want to become a radio officer in the marine side then you have to clear the exam called certificate of competency
If you have passed your 10th standard and are above 17 years can join this course. All the best |

to become a radio officer in merchant navy u have ti qualify the entrance xam and should have a more than 60% in ur 10th and be more tha 17 yers. good luck. |

I was a ships RO for 9 years....they stopped needing to carry them around the year 2000? Replaced by a system called GMDSS (satellites and automation of communications such as digital selective calling and GPS etc)...So basically better off pursuing a career as a Deck Navigation Officer ("Mate"), Integrated rating ("Able Seaman") or Ships Engineer. You need to get a Cadetship with a shipping company and they will send you to college to train!

to be a radio officer one has to undergo some special course along with regular course required towork on a ship as a radio officer eligibility to become a radio officer:- 1. Educational qualification; the minimum educational qualifications for pursuing a marine radio officer (mro) course theaspirant should be at least plus two or equivalent with preferably science subjects such as physics, chemistry and mathematics. 2. Age: The candidate must have attained the age of 17 years on 1st july of the year of examinationthe upper age limit is also relaxed in favor of certain categories of employees working under the government of india and defense services personnel 3. Physical standard: The minimum height should be 150cms with correlated weight and proportionate chest withminimum 5-cm expansion. He should also pass a medical fitness test for sea service under standard norms and witheyesight 6/6 with no color blindness. -process to become a radio officer:- to become a radio officer one has to follow the below given steps:- step 1: The aspirants has to take up the marine radio officers course. These courses in rogc, cop,rtg, rtr, rtim are internationally recognised. Examinations for these courses are conducted bythe ministry of communications, government of india. Step 2: Once the aspirant has completed his qualification then one can applying for the job is the public sector or private sector shipping companies as radio officer. Good luck.. |

Radio officer is the person who controls the vital communication in the ships .To perform their duties they use radio.They are also responsible for maintaining the depth recording or electronic navigation devices in the ship.
Well to become a radio officer you have to undergo the radio officer course in some marine institute.To pursue this course you should posses all these eligibility criteria :: You should have passed class 12th with physics and maths as a compulsory subjects . You should be minimum 17 years if you want to apply for this course. You have to take up the marine radio officer course .List of good institutes :: Training Ship Chanakya, Navi Mumbai. Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI), Kolkata. Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI), Mumbai. Lal Bahadur Shastri College of advanced Maritime Studies and Research, Mumbai. Once you complete you course you can apply for the jobs in the private companies or the public sector companies . |
